Your new role
In this role as Detour Youth Coach, you will be responsible for delivering early intervention and prevention support to young people aged 12–24 and their families, through the Detour program. You will work closely with partners such as Melbourne City Mission, Uniting, and Kids Under Cover to provide intensive, wrap-around coaching aimed at preventing youth homelessness.
You will help young people build essential life skills, develop and commit to tailored plans for independence, and connect them with their families, communities, and support networks. By focusing on early engagement, you will empower young people to create sustainable pathways toward a more stable and fulfilling future.

Your skills and experience
* Relevant tertiary and / or post-graduate qualification is preferred, with relevant experience in the community, human services, or social welfare sectors.
* Experience in working with and providing casework to young people and their families, particularly within the context of early intervention and youth homelessness.
* Knowledge and experience with the youth homelessness sector and / or mainstream services.
* Extensive knowledge of casework principles.
* Understanding of key issues as related to youth homelessness and family breakdown.
* Knowledge and / or experience in Action Research and other related participatory engagement strategies.
