PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The Government Relations Officer is responsible for an effective, high quality liaison service for Power and Water, including the coordination and
preparation of briefings, correspondence and advice in response to Ministerial, Parliamentary, Cabinet and inter-Government correspondence and
requests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - The “WHAT” to be delivered
Operational Delivery
• Facilitates coordination, preparation and review of Ministerial, department and government correspondence, submissions and briefings.
- Monitors the centralised email account and ensures emails are actioned promptly.
- Maintains an effective tracking system for correspondence, submissions and briefings including timely and accurate records management.
- Provides advice on and maintains compliance with ministerial, Cabinet and departmental practices in line with set protocols and standards.
- Assists in the preparation, review and maintenance of relevant processes, handbooks, procedures and supporting framework.
- Supports identification and escalation of potentially contentious issues and contributes to the development of strategies to address these.
- Contributes to management of confidential and sensitive matters with tact and discretion in a timely and professional manner.
- Provides support to the Chief of Staff and Manager Government Relations in the functions of the unit and contributes effectively within the
wider Safety, People and Governance teams.
