* HEO7 position – $106,472 – $117,127 per annum + 17% superannuation
About the position
The Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Advisor supports strong environmental governance across the University by maintaining compliance with Commonwealth, state, and local environmental legislation, monitoring environmental performance, and driving continuous improvement in environmental management practices.
The position ensures environmental risks are systematically identified, managed, and mitigated, and that compliance obligations are met across all campuses. It also offers a rare opportunity to work across La Trobe's highly biodiverse campuses, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to protect and enhance areas of high environmental significance.
The role embeds effective environmental management practices into the University's operations, infrastructure and asset development, procurement, research activities, and campus planning, while also engaging with external stakeholders such as community groups and local government as required.
In addition, the Advisor builds environmental capability and awareness across the University community, ensuring staff, students, contractors, and partners understand their environmental responsibilities and contribute to the University's sustainability objectives.
Through a collaborative approach, the role supports delivery of La Trobe's Environmental Sustainability Policy, Environmental Management System, Green Star Communities and Buildings initiatives, and emerging ESG and sustainable finance requirements.
