Your gig
Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll be the go-to for all things WHS, partnering with leaders across the business to make safety straightforward, practical, and part of everyday life. From inspections and audits to campaigns and coaching, you'll help us stay sharp, stay safe, and stay Virgin.
In a nutshell -
- You'll promote and role model a culture of safety and wellbeing across the organisation
- You'll coach, educate, and support leaders and employees in WHS responsibilities, safe work practices, and incident prevention
- You'll lead safety communications, campaigns, and training initiatives
- You'll ensure compliance with WHS legislation, regulations, and organisational policies
- You'll conduct regular workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and manage hazards
- You'll monitor contractor compliance with safety requirements
- You'll support the development, review, and implementation of WHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices
- You'll act as the first point of contact for workplace incidents and hazards, ensuring timely reporting and escalation
- You'll coordinate investigations into incidents, hazards, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions
- You'll support injury management and return-to-work programs in collaboration with the People team and managers
- You'll maintain accurate WHS records and ensure reporting obligations are met
- You'll analyse WHS data and trends to provide insights and recommend preventative actions
- You'll prepare and deliver safety reports for management and compliance requirements
- You'll partner with cross-functional teams (Operations, People, Product) to embed safety in business processes
- You'll proactively identify opportunities to strengthen the safety management system
All about you
- You've got 3-5 years of safety know-how under your belt and a Cert IV in WHS (or higher). You've worked in environments where safety is non-negotiable, and you know your way around audits, systems, and compliance. Bonus points if you've wrangled safety in fast-paced, customer-facing industries-retail, hospitality, aviation? A+ for you.
- You're people-focused. You know how to connect with frontline teams and leaders, making safety feel simple, practical, and part of everyday work. You listen intently, coach confidently, and communicate in a way that builds trust. You're authentic, approachable, and your judgement is solid as a rock.
- You're driven. You ask questions, dig deep, and love solving problems. You're cool under pressure, manage your time like a pro, and can be counted on to follow through. You've got a knack for spotting risks before they become issues-and you're always looking for ways to make things better.
- You've got a can-do approach. You think on your feet, roll with the punches, and bring a solution-focused mindset to every challenge. You're comfortable with ambiguity and change, and you help others feel confident about managing safety-whatever the situation.
