Board Director - Business Sector Representative We are currently seeking an experienced Director to join our Board, to help support and shape the organisations future.
The Board is an independent skills-based board, responsible for delivering strategic insight for both Reef Catchments and Catchment Solutions.
The Director will work across both areas to provide strategic insight and influence as the Business Sector Representative.
About the role Contribute to effective governance and oversight of RCL and its subsidiary, Catchment Solutions Pty Ltd.
Actively participate in and contribute at Board meetings, committees and strategic planning sessions.
Represent RCL at regional forums and strengthen stakeholder partnerships and engagement.
Champion sustainable NRM outcomes and advocate for community outcomes.
Work collaboratively with the Chair, fellow Directors and CEO to guide strategy and performance.
About You You are values-driven, collaborative and committed to making a positive impact for the Mackay Whitsunday Isaac region.
In addition, you will bring: Previous experience on a Board of a complex community-based, or not-for-profit organisation.
Business management, governance and risk management experience.
Communications, marketing and public relations experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to contribute constructively at Board level.
Qualifications and/or formal training such as the AICD's Company Directors Course, highly desirable.
Knowledge, experience and relevant networks in the NRM Region, highly desirable.
Selection Criteria Must-Haves Prior Board or committee experience required.
Commercial Acumen, confident in financial oversight, compliance, risk, regulatory compliance and organisational accountability.
Proven experience in governance, strategy or leadership within a profit-for-purpose, NRM, agricultural, regional development, or related context.
Ability to analyse, evaluate and contribute to monitoring organisational performance, risk and compliance.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to contribute constructively to Board deliberations.
Integrity, independence and sound judgment.
Commitment to RCL's purpose and values.
Highly Desirable Expertise in environmental, agricultural or regional policy and practice.
Travel Travel across the region may be required.
Estimated Time commitment The role requires a flexible and meaningful time investment, averaging 10–15 days per year.
This includes: Attendance at ~6 Board meetings annually (mix of in-person and online).
Attendance at an annual strategic planning day.
Participation in Board committees as required (~3–4 days/year).
Occasional stakeholder engagement and regional travel (~5days/year).
