The Opportunity
We're searching for a dynamic individual to join our Health and Medical Solutions Business Unit at our vibrant Mulgrave office.
As the Accounting Team Leader ANZ, you will take the lead in in managing the accounting and financial functions for Essity in Australia and New Zealand. You will oversee the preparation, reporting, and management of financial data, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely submission of reports. Additionally, you will lead and support a small team of accounting professionals, driving excellence and efficiency within the accounting department.

What You'll Do:
1. Lead the timely completion and submission of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including budgeting and forecasts.
2. Support budget holders in cost management and allocation activities.
3. Conduct monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
4. Manage GST, withholding tax, and employment tax reporting to ATO and IRD for Australia and New Zealand.
5. Take ownership of payroll accounting, with shared responsibility within the team.
6. Assist in preparing statutory accounts for ANZ companies and other financial reports on a consolidated basis.
7. Calculate income taxes and support the annual budget process in alignment with Essity guidelines.
8. Prepare financial data for submission to external bodies as required.
9. Oversee the month-end close processes and manage the AICO (journal and reconciliation tool).
10. Lead and oversee the wider accounting team, particularly in Accounts Payable processes.
11. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
12. Manage the distribution of ad-hoc requirements within the Accounting Team.
13. Act as backup for calculation and maintenance of standard costs for inventory.
Experience and Qualifications:
14. Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting/Commerce, or similar field.
15. CA/CPA qualified.
16. Proven experience in finance and accounting roles, with demonstrated leadership capabilities.
17. Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organisation.
18. Advanced technical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
19. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Advanced Excel. Knowledge of Power BI is advantageous.
20. Familiarity with large ERPs such as SAP.
