Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

The maternity unit at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital is a level three role delineation, delivering over 800 babies a year. The service is expanding to increase the Obstetric service to level four to enhance the services provided to local residents.

The department provides comprehensive gynaecological services to the region with support for gynaecological oncology from Royal Women's Hospital, Randwick. Opportunities are available to enhance skills in obstetric imaging depending on the career focus of the successful applicant.

Shoalhaven Hospital is a busy acute care facility providing emergency care, medical, surgical and orthopaedic services to around 22,000 patients each year. The hospital has an Intensive Care Unit incorporating High Dependency and Coronary Care beds, as well as Emergency Department services.

The hospital supports the training of Nursing, Medical and Allied Health staff through affiliation with the University of Wollongong, offering teaching and research opportunities through the UOW Graduate School of Medicine.

This coastal location offers a desirable lifestyle with short commute times and beautiful natural environment contributing to a perfect work-life balance. Advanced Trainees expected to receive FRANZCOG within six months may be considered for this role.

All NSW Health workers require up-to-date COVID-19 vaccination which includes three doses for Category A roles and two doses for Category B roles. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement or provide a medical contraindication certificate.

* Extensive experience at a senior O&G specialist level with demonstration of competency working independently with complex emergencies and limited support.
