Camden Council in partnership with the NSW Government is offering a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship as part of the 'Fresh start for Local Government Apprentices, Trainees and Cadets’ Program for entry level career opportunities in local government.
SALARY: $25,064 - 43,024 pa + Super
Work Type: Temporary Full Time up to 4-year nominal term, commencing November 2025
Location: Workshop - 5 Millwood Avenue, Narellan 2567

About the Role:
As a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic Apprentice, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy vehicles and plant equipment. Under the guidance of experienced mechanics, you will learn to diagnose and fix mechanical, electrical, and other faults using specialised tools and computerised equipment. Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive inspections, maintaining workshop cleanliness, and ensuring accurate record-keeping.

- Assist in the maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles and plant equipment

Essential:
- A natural ability and interest in working with tools and mechanical systems
- Enjoyment and ability to perform hands-on, practical work
- Strong ability to diagnose issues and find solutions
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with experienced mechanics
- Strict following of safety procedures and guidelines
- Good communication skills to liaise with supervisors, mechanics and customers
- Commitment to quality workmanship and maintaining a high standard of work
