The opportunity
Our PE+I team is renowned for its expertise in managing complex, high-value property claims and subrogated recoveries in Australia, New Zealand, and the region. We specialise in various property-related sectors, including energy, resources, power, renewables, and infrastructure, handling indemnity disputes, complex coverage issues, dual insurance actions, and crisis management for local and international insurers during catastrophic events. We excel in cases involving multi-party recoveries, often with intricate factual or forensic elements, requiring active engagement with co-insurers and the broader market. Our focus is on maximizing recovery income and delivering efficient, timely resolutions for insurers.

Key Responsibilities
As an Associate in our PE+I team, you will be responsible for:

* Advising on coverage for first-party losses.
* Conducting legal research and document review.
* Briefing and conferencing with loss adjusters, experts, and counsel.
* Drafting advice for clients on coverage and strategy.
* Assisting with subrogated recoveries, advising insurers on prospects.
* Handling all aspects of recovery litigation, including drafting pleadings, proofing witnesses, and settling expert evidence.
* Attending settlement discussions to represent our clients effectively.
* Contributing to thought leadership by drafting articles and preparing presentations on legal developments and areas of interest to our clients.

To be considered you will have...

* Admitted with years of relevant legal experience, preferably in insurance or litigation.
* Strong analytical and research skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
