About the role:
Centrogen is seeking an experienced Planned Burn Supervisor / Incident Controller to lead and coordinate fire mitigation, vegetation management, and wildfire response activities in the field. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with strong operational experience who can safely manage crews, equipment, and incident response in dynamic environments.
You will work both independently and as part of a team, overseeing planned works, emergency response activities, and prescribed burning operations while ensuring the highest standards of safety, environmental compliance, and operational performance.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead and coordinate fire mitigation, vegetation management, and wildfire response activities
* Control and manage Level 1 incidents and prescribed burns in line with approved plans
* Operate and oversee the use of plant, equipment, firefighting vehicles, and tools
* Conduct risk assessments, briefings, debriefings, and maintain clear communication on site
* Liaise with supervisors, managers, landowners, and external agencies during incidents
* Ensure compliance with OHS, environmental, and operational procedures at all times
* Complete required documentation, reporting, and incident records accurately and on time

Required qualifications:
Planned Burns Supervisor competencies:
* PUAFIR402 – Conduct simple prescribed burns
* PUAFIR406 – Develop simple prescribed burn plans
* PUAFIR506 – Conduct complex prescribed burns
* PUAFIR515 – Develop complex prescribed burn plans
Additional requirements:
* Current driver's licence (truck licence desirable)
* White Card / Blue Card
* Chemical Application Licence (ACDC or ChemCert)
* Level 1 & 2 Chainsaw
* Strong understanding of wildfire response, vegetation management, and safety systems
