About our Role

The Senior Financial Accountant collaborates closely with operational leaders and diverse business units, providing financial insights, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations to drive profitability, efficiency, and sustainable growth. The focus is on strategically guiding the financial direction of the assigned portfolio, acting as a catalyst for well-informed decision-making, and ensuring that financial strategies align with the unique requirements of each division.


Key Responsibilities


Financial Reporting, Financial Control and Compliance

* Preparation of monthly financial statements and business reviews for presentation to the Executive Leadership Team.
* Prepare reports and dashboards for tracking financial and operational performance for the respective group entities.
* Preparation of annual financial statements and statutory filings
* Execute month-end accounting and reporting processes; Update and oversee key operational drivers, ensuring reconciliation is accurate.
* Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and relevant regulatory requirements including guidance on appropriate accounting treatments for expenses, capital expenditures, and revenue.
* Develop procedures and appropriate metrics for tracking project milestones and funding requirements.
* Oversee and report on compliance of applicable covenants for debt facilities, grants and associated reporting obligations.
* Support and liaise with external consultants for tax and regulatory submissions and ad hoc reporting requests from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Telecommunications Regulator.


Budgeting, Forecasting and Analysis

* Collaborate with divisional teams to formulate comprehensive financial plans, covering budgeting, forecasting, cashflow analysis and performance reporting.
* Drive development and preparation of budgets and business plans for the respective group entities.
* Partner with business units to provide timely financial information and analysis to ensure expenditure is tracking to budget, improve business case analysis and assist with financial decision making.


Systems, Processes and Continuous Improvement

* Drive continuous improvement within the finance team by leading functional initiatives and delivering quarterly objectives.
* Proactively provide recommendations to improve and streamline finance and reporting processes


About You

* CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent), with a tertiary qualification in Finance, Accounting, or Commerce
* 5–8 years' experience, including 2+ years in a similar role; alternatively, Big 4 experience in External Audit or CFO Advisory (ideally at Manager level).
* Strong background in senior financial accounting, reporting, and financial control, with solid knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements.
* Proven capability in delivering month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
* Demonstrated experience preparing executive-level financial reports, dashboards, and insights, with clear, confident communication skills and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
* Experience partnering with operational leaders and non-finance stakeholders across the business.
* Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations.
* Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting
* Experience building dashboards in Power BI highly regarded
* Highly analytical and detail-oriented, able to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and deliver outcomes.
* Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of enhancing processes, systems, and reporting
