The GP Discipline lead- Rural will oversee medical student course delivery and assessment in the general practice curriculum within in the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) content for the rural cohort of medical students and contribute to the development of the Doctor of Medicine (BMD) general practice Year 5 and Year 6 curriculum due to be delivered in 2026 and beyond.
Actively contribute to Adelaide Rural Clinical School (ARCS) Medical Education Committee, work collaboratively with their urban general practice counterpart to ensure consistency across the curriculum and contribute to the course co-ordination/discipline lead team.
The GP Discipline lead will oversee medical student course delivery and assessment in the general practice curriculum in collaboration with other members of the ARCS medical education team, conducting a high proportion of the course teachings through online modules, Zoom tutorials and face-to-face clinical sessions. They will contribute to assessment development and delivery, including course level a Multiple Choice Examination and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination. They also will contribute to the broader ARCS agenda of recruiting, preparing and mentoring the next generation of rural health professionals, including medical students and junior doctors based in the region.
Importantly, this role works closely with Aboriginal staff, students and health professionals to close the gap in health and educational outcomes.
There is also the possibility for the successful incumbent to be involved in research activities related to rural health and/or medical education.
To Be Successful You Will Need
* Current medical registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) & fellowship in the medical discipline of general practice/primary care including FACRRM or FRACGP;
* Ability to work clinically within rural or remote South Australia, preferably in a site where Adelaide Medical Students undertake longitudinal placements https://health.adelaide.edu.au/adelaide-rural-clinical-school/locations
* Demonstrated commitment to working with Aboriginal staff, students and health professionals to close the gap in health and educational outcomes
* High level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills using distance technology and E-learning platforms.
