Monash Health is continuing on its journey of rolling out Electonic Medical Records (EMR) across its network. This next rollout will implement the Maternity EMR Project for our Maternity services. It will streamline the current hybrid workflows into a single integrated solution.

About the Role

The Midwifery Informatics Officer (MIO), is a Midwife, who oversees the documentation and mapping of midwifery workflows, ensuring effective integration with IT systems. This role is pivotal in validating, implementing, and adopting the Maternity module while contributing to change management, adoption and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities include facilitating workshops with stakeholders to document workflows, supporting subject matter experts in maintaining workflow quality, and identifying downtime procedures. The MIO also conducts impact analyses on workflow design, assesses risks, prepares decision papers for governance, and acts as a change champion. Additionally, they support testing, develop training materials, and provide end-user support during the go-live phase.

Upon completion of the project phase, the role will transition into a Business as Usual role with a focus on providing clinical expertise and information leadership across all Clinical Information Systems including EMR to ensure systems support effective clinical workflows. Continual responsibilities include liaising with the clinical and digital information teams promoting digital practice and uplifting digital health capability to ensure alignment with the Digital Health Vision and Plan; Prioritising EMR enhancement requests through consideration of professional practice requirements, NSQHS Standards, Monash Health Nursing and Midwifery Strategic Directions and Foundations of Care.

About You

Success in this position requires a blend of technology skills, healthcare knowledge, and strong communication and leadership abilities. Delivering effective solutions involves gathering expert input, making informed design decisions, planning for change management, managing risks, and ensuring a smooth transition to operations and business as usual. Clear communication and thorough documentation are essential to align with the clinical and digital governance structures at Monash Health. Through collaboration and leadership, this role aims to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of maternity services, ultimately improving patient care outcomes.
