Offer description

A-Star Sports Nets is a leading force in Australian sports facilities, specialising in sports netting solutions for elite-level clubs and organisations across the AFL, NRL, Cricket, Rugby, Soccer, and Golf, as well as world-class facilities for private schools, councils, and high-end commercial projects. Based in Carrum Downs, Melbourne, with a growing presence in Sydney, we deliver cutting-edge projects that shape the future of Australian sports facilities. Who will thrive in our culture We’re looking for someone who lives and breathes the values that underpin A-Star Sports. The business is built on hard work and fairness, with a culture defined by loyalty, care, and accountability. People are treated with genuine care and respect, and the team often comes together socially as well as professionally. This environment sets the tone for everything we do. This role suits someone who is naturally an early riser and finds satisfaction in well-kept routines. Someone who values total accountability, discipline, and pride in hard work. A person who isn’t afraid to admit when they’re wrong, embraces feedback without hesitation and has a genuine growth mindset. Most of all, someone who lives for their career, thrives on being on-site with a small team, naturally enjoys the workplace and leads with energy and consistency. Your role as Site Manager As a Site Manager, you’ll be driving the works program, keeping works on time or ahead, managing site set-outs, and coordinating civil and structural works like bored piers, pad footings, crane operations, and concrete pours. You’ll also enforce safety procedures, and coordinate with surveyors to ensure flawless execution. That means working within budget, thinking smart on site, optimising resources, and reducing waste to keep everything flowing smoothly. It’s for someone who enjoys being outdoors, loves order and structure, and wants a long-term career in a niche industry where the work is meaningful and the clients are the cream of the crop. Please note : You must be willing and able to travel interstate at short notice and occasionally be away for up to a week at a time, depending on the nature of our projects. Flexibility and a can-do attitude are essential. Why this industry? Unlike the grind of residential or general construction, sporting facility projects can offer a career with purpose and prestige. For example, imagine working on elite-level environments for AFL clubs like Collingwood, Hawthorn, Carlton, Richmond, Western Bulldogs, and the Sydney Swans like we have in the past few years. This isn’t just construction work; it’s contributing to legacy projects that shape the sporting landscape of Australia. This is just a few clubs from one sport, extrapolate that across clubs and facilities across Cricket, NRL, Union, Soccer, Golf, Australia’s biggest councils and commercial projects and you are touching the surface of your career with us.

Whilst you could earn more as a Site Manager elsewhere, ask yourself: at what cost? In other industries, that money can feel like blood money and your weeks can feel like a combat zone. The sports netting and facility build space moves at a different pace, much more methodical and predictable, with simpler building techniques. With us, you’ll find the triple threat of a career that matters, a lifestyle that fits, and the satisfaction of working in a strong culture. Key Responsibilities: 1. Technical & In office Execution: Oversee and execute civil and structural works, including bored piers, pad footings, crane lifts, and concrete works. Conduct and manage site set outs and liaise with site surveyors to ensure accuracy in project execution. Site Management & Safety Compliance: Take full responsibility for on-site safety, ensuring compliance with all regulations, SWMs and JSAs. Lead pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and risk assessments. Conduct ongoing project assessments, identifying risks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement. Maintain and enforce a high-performance culture, ensuring the team operates at maximum efficiency. Mentor and develop team members, ensuring a high level of technical skill and work ethic. Establish and maintain an installer skills matrix including licensing and ticket information. Set high standards for workmanship, professionalism, and accountability. Work closely with the General Manager to execute strategic initiatives and process improvements. Keep a firm grip on deadlines, productivity, and team output, ensuring every project meets expectations. 4. Software & Database Management (Field Operations) Ensure Tradify and all project management software is used correctly and consistently by the installation team on-site. Maintain accurate, up-to-date job entries that are easy to read and support efficient tracking, reporting, and decision-making. Utilise photos, job updates, and clear documentation for every installation to ensure high-quality project execution. 5. Coordination & Communication: Liaise with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and subcontractors to align work on-site. Ensure seamless communication between on-site teams and office-based project coordination. Handle material deliveries, resource allocation, and subcontractor management to maintain site efficiency.
