About the Royal College of Pathologists Australasia
The Royal College of Pathologists Australasia (RCPA) is the leading organisation representing pathologists and senior scientists in Australasia.
The RCPA was established in 1956 and has been responsible for the training and professional development of pathologists since that time. We also provide training programs for senior scientists working in pathology.
RCPA has around 4500 members practising in private and public pathology sectors across Australasia, including Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. The College is also responsible for the promotion of the science and practice of pathology.
About the role
As a Senior Grants Manager, you will be responsible for securing and managing external funding that supports the College's strategic priorities, with a particular focus on specialist training. This role leads the identification, preparation, and management of grant opportunities, including the Specialist Training Program (STP), ensuring compliance, impact, and strong collaboration across the College and partner organisations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Proactively identify, assess, and secure grant opportunities that align with the College's strategic priorities, including training, research, and innovation.
* Lead the preparation of high-quality applications in collaboration with subject matter experts, ensuring proposals are competitive and aligned with funder requirements.
* Develop and embed frameworks, standards, and tools to strengthen project management, compliance, and outcomes across the College's grant portfolio.
* Oversee all aspects of grant budgets, reporting, governance, and compliance to ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with College policies.
* Manage the full lifecycle of externally funded projects, from initiation to completion, ensuring delivery of outcomes within agreed scope, time, and budget.
* Monitor progress, lead risk management, and maintain quality standards to strengthen effectiveness and consistency across the College's grant portfolio.
* Establish and maintain grant-related policies, frameworks, and quality standards to ensure compliance and consistency across all projects
* Build relationships, and act as the key liaison with funding bodies, ensuring regular and effective communication, reporting, and compliance with all grant requirements.
* Coordinate contributions from staff, contractors, and project officers engaged in grant-funded projects, ensuring alignment with College policies and procedures (including flexible and remote work arrangements where relevant).
* Support professional development by identifying learning needs and recommending opportunities where appropriate.
What We're Looking For:
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Project Management, or a related field partnered with a demonstrated experience in grant acquisition and management with a strong understanding of government grants.
* Exceptional grant writing skills, with the ability to develop persuasive proposals and funding applications.
* Strong financial management and reporting skills.
* Expertise in program/project management and portfolio management.
* Proficiency in developing and implementing project frameworks, tools, and standards.
* Strong organisational, communication, and people management experience.
* Excellent knowledge of the health and medical sector.
* Experience in the health, education, or not-for-profit sectors.
* Familiarity with government funding and reporting requirements, particularly the Department of Health Specialist Training Program.
