Oriental Merchant is a leading wholesaler and distributor of authentic Asian food goods in the FMCG industry. We supply major supermarkets and independent grocery stores across AU, NZ, EU, UK and CA with brands and products familiar throughout the Asia Pacific region. We are proud of what we have achieved in the Asian food category and are looking for a new addition to our team

We have an exciting opportunity for a Human Resources Assistant to join our HR team in Mulgrave, VIC

This is a permanent full-time position.

Your job role includes (but not limited to):

Human Resource Management

* Efficiently complete daily HR functions in accordance with company policies and procedures.
* Aid in the end-to-end recruitment process, including talent selection, induction, onboarding, and training of new employees.
* Update and formulate new job descriptions to align with evolving organizational needs.
* Assist overseeing processes and workflows for HRIS systems and implement changes as necessary.
* Assist in the implementation of Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) measures.
* Administer Workcover claims and contribute to the development of return-to-work plans.
* Participate in the planning of company events such as annual dinners, etc. and be confident in hosting an event.
* Conduct research to develop, update, and review policies. Ensure compliance with current legislation.

To be successful you will need:

* A tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field is highly regarded
* Demonstrated previous experience in HR related roles
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel
* Strong understanding of HR practices and compliance
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
* Experience in HRIS platforms is desirable but not essential, especially Employment Hero and ADP
* Ability to collaborate effectively in a dynamic and diverse work environment
* A willingness to learn payroll is desirable but not essential
