Overview
The Safeguards Team is a new dedicated CAMHS resource that provides innovative and best‐practice care to children and adolescents aged 0‐17 years experiencing acute mental health distress. The team operates community‐based, rapid response services, including assertive outreach, care coordination and time‐limited therapeutic interventions across community and inpatient settings. The Aboriginal Mental Health Clinician functions within a multidisciplinary team and prioritises coordination of the recovery of Aboriginal people with a mental illness or disorder, delivering expert clinical coordination, leadership and consultancy services in collaboration with consumers.
Responsibilities
* Deliver rapid response and crisis intervention services to children and adolescents with acute mental health needs.
* Provide assertive outreach, care coordination and time‐limited therapeutic interventions across community and inpatient settings.
* Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to coordinate recovery for Aboriginal people with mental illness or disorder.
* Report to the FWLHD – Safeguards Team Clinical Leader and have professional responsibility to the FWLHD – CAMHS District Manager.
* Assist with assessment, intervention and care coordination in CAMHS.
* Apply professional and ethical boundaries when working with complex situations.
* Maintain trauma‐informed care principles and apply them when working with children/adolescents and families/carers.
* Utilise information technology systems for case management and communication.
* Work extended hours and across FWLHD sites on request.
* Maintain an unrestricted Australian driver's licence (P2 acceptable) and obtain an NSW licence within 3 months of appointment.
Qualifications & Experience
* Be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent (genuine occupational qualification).
* Occupational Therapy Level 3: AHPRA registered Occupational Therapist with at least 3 years clinical experience in CAMHS.
* Social Worker Level 3: Bach of Social Work with eligibility for AASW membership and at least 3 years clinical experience in CAMHS.
* Graduate of the Djirruwang Bach of Health Science program with at least 3 years clinical experience in CAMHS.
* Psychologist Year 4 or above: AHPRA registered, fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and at least 4 years clinical experience in CAMHS.
* Senior Psychologist: AHPRA registered, fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia and at least 1 year at the 9th year of service and thereafter on the salary scale for Psychologist.
* Clinical Nurse Consultant 1: AHPRA registered RN with at least 5 years FTE post‐registration clinical experience and postgraduate qualifications relevant to the area of specialty.
* Extensive contemporary experience and knowledge of psychological practice.
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
