About This Program
YouThrive is an NSW Government‐funded psychosocial support program designed to help young people living with serious mental issues remain connected to their community, education, employment, housing, and support networks. Working collaboratively with Local Health Districts across targeted NSW locations, the program delivers recovery‐oriented and trauma‐informed care that promotes wellbeing, continuity of care, and long‐term recovery outcomes.
Opportunity Details
The Recovery Worker – Sexual Assault provides mental‐health‐focused support to participants experiencing the impacts of sexual assault, trauma, and abuse through a recovery‐oriented and trauma‐informed approach. You will develop and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external specialist providers to promote seamless, coordinated, and holistic mental‐health support aligned with individual participant goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide person‐centred, recovery‐oriented support to participants impacted by sexual assault, trauma, and abuse.
* Build safe, respectful, and non‐judgemental relationships that promote autonomy, wellbeing and harm minimisation.
* Support participants to access Wellways Connect and other relevant supports.
* Contribute specialist knowledge and guidance to multidisciplinary teams.
* Facilitate inclusive coproduction activities for those experiencing sexual assault, trauma and abuse, ensuring lived experience informs service design.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Minimum Certificate IV in Mental Health, Mental Health Peer Work, Youth Work or Community Services (or equivalent practical experience in a mental‐health role).
* Experience supporting participants experiencing the impacts of sexual assault, trauma, and abuse.
* Strong understanding of recovery‐oriented, trauma‐informed and youth‐focused practice.
* Experience engaging and supporting young people from diverse identities and backgrounds.
* Current Working with Children Check and NDIS Workers Screening Check.
* Current valid Driver's License and ability to undertake travel for the role.
* Right to work within Australia.
* Satisfactory National Police Records Check.
* NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
