Job Description
As a Safety Auditor, you will be responsible for providing independent assurance and advisory services to add value and improve operations across the organisation.
This role will be crucial in ensuring safety, health and wellbeing compliance with processes, procedures, strategies, plans and objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading and conducting assurance engagements, supporting management in delivering the annual audit plan, and providing coaching to team members.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the annual audit plan (individual site and safety systems audits)
* Support internal audit objectives, providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve organisational operations
* Lead and conduct assurance engagements, support management in delivering the annual audit plan, and provide coaching to team members
* Support leadership team in developing and managing the Safety, Health & Wellbeing Assurance Program and provide independent assurance of compliance
* Ensure safety, health and workers compensation self-insurance licence requirements are met in line with Board and State licensing requirements
* Provide advisory services and promote continuous improvement in safety performance and safety management systems within the organisation
* Support business in maintaining Safety, Health and Wellbeing and Injury Management Self Insurance Licence through audits
* Develop and maintain the national safety audit assurance program across retail stores and hotels
* Lead the execution of high-risk store/hotel safety audits and system management audits, identifying and assessing key risks in operational controls
* Develop and maintain the audit schedule using a risk-based approach
* Present audit findings in written and verbal formats to management and the Audit and Risk Committee
* Foster engagement with the business and position Internal Audit as a trusted advisor
* Identify, recommend and support operational improvement of Internal Audit processes and tools
* Act as an ambassador for Internal Audit during assignments and engage with management to achieve objectives
* Take initiative to evolve IA deliverables
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Certificate IV (minimum) in Safety, Health and Wellbeing (Diploma in WHS highly desirable)
* Experience in a senior safety adviser/auditor role with Environment, Health and Safety or operational audit experience (highly desirable)
* Experience auditing Safety, Health and Wellbeing Management Systems (desirable)
* Proficiency in Australian Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing (Desirable)
* Current or previous experience within a Self Insurance Licence organisation (Desirable)
* Operational experience in retail stores and/or hotels (Desirable)
* Ability to provide recommendations for integrating SHW management systems into business practices
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to tailor communications to business and operations
* Ability to interpret and analyse data
* Ability to work with teams of auditors and managers; build strong relationships with stakeholders
* Strong problem-solving aptitude with attention to detail
* Availability to travel interstate once a month for a 5-day period
