We are currently looking for a proactive, motivated, and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Accountant with strong payroll experience. We are a family run business that provides heavy lifting equipment to the construction industry in and around South East Queensland.
You will report to the CFO as well as working with our team of experienced office staff to assist with the day-to-day financial operations of the business, including payroll, progress claims, accounts processing, reconciliations, reporting and financial administration.
Main responsibilities and activities will include:
* Process employee timesheets on a weekly basis
* Ensure compliance with payroll laws and regulations (PAYG, Superannuation, and payroll tax reporting etc.). Timely and precise distribution of required reports.
* Provide clear, professional support on payroll questions to Managers and employees.
* Communicate payroll deadlines and requirements to ensure timely paperwork disbursements, and deductions.
* Maintain accurate employee records and manage file archiving per company policy.
* Prepare and deliver payroll reports within set deadlines.
* Manage leave balances, superannuation, and payroll-related enquiries
* Assisting with monthly progress claims and invoicing
* Ensuring transactions are accounted for accurately and timely
* General reconciliations and other ad hoc finance and admin tasks.
Requirements:
* Knowledge of payroll processes, taxation, superannuation, payroll tax legislation, awards, agreements and contracts of employment
* Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks experience - preferred, as well as excel
* Ability to consistently produce quality work with a high degree of accuracy
* High level of organisation
* Strong people skills – a polite and professional demeanor when working with other companies, as well as clients and co-workers
* Working with EBA's and awards
* Other functions such as invoicing, creditors, knowledge in these areas desirable
