We are seeking an experienced Building Consultant with insurance experience. Alternatively, candidates with a background as a Builder, Building Estimator, or Building Supervisor who have worked for a company on an insurance panel of builders will be considered. A can-do attitude and a willingness to grow within a consulting space are important.

About You
The role will suit candidates who can demonstrate:
- Sound technical experience in building consultancy (minimum 2+ years) or experience as a builder, building estimator or building supervisor on an insurance panel of builders.
- Excellent client relationships and communication skills.
- High motivation, responsibility, sound judgment and customer focus.
- Ability to perform in a fast-paced consulting environment with competing demands.
- Excellent technical report writing skills or the ability to translate knowledge into sound technical written reports.
Key Requirements
- Experience in commercial and domestic building practices, understanding building regulations, codes, and standards, and the ability to interpret technical building matters.
- Extensive technical building experience gained through a trade or site experience.
- Currently registered as a building practitioner (engineer, building inspector, building surveyor, quantity surveyor, or builder) for commercial or domestic work.
- Methodical and efficient time management.
- Well-presented, energetic, polite, and friendly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill complex issues into actionable solutions.
- Strong ability to produce high-quality technical reports using Word and Excel.
- Valid and current driver’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections of properties and buildings to identify defects, evaluate compliance, and identify liabilities related to the project.
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients.
- Prepare written reports documenting causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge through education, publications, networking, and qualified societies.
- Maintain and champion a professional service mindset through organisational learning and continuous improvement.
- Prepare detailed building reports for defective or incomplete work, make-good reports, stage inspection reports, dilapidation reports, condition reports, and other required reports.
- Provide expert witness testimony in the courts, as required.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of applicable Government legislation, standards, codes related to building, construction processes, technologies and materials.
