Resilient Lismore's mission is to build connected and thriving communities, that are well-equipped to handle and recover from emergencies and climate disasters. We strive to deliver and support grassroot initiatives, helping local communities improve their capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from the impacts of climate change.
The Disaster Ready Together (DRT) Project
The Disaster Ready Together Project, funded by the Australian and NSW Governments, builds disaster preparedness and resilience among local community service organisations and within community by facilitating emergency preparedness planning. A key objective of the project is to strengthen connections between community, community organisations and emergency management authorities to reduce local disaster risks, especially for people most vulnerable to disaster impacts.
Position Summary
The DRT events officer works closely with the DRT Project Coordinator and Team including the Executive Director to implement project event activities with a focus on planning, organising and executing the Disaster Ready Together Summit. The position will oversee event planning and coordination, event logistics, budget management, marketing, promotion, and communications.
The DRT Project Officer reports to the DRT Coordinator and works closely with the other core team members.
Part-time, 15 hours per week from June to mid-August with an increase to up to 30 hours per week to the end of September.

Responsibilities
* Prepare and manage event plans including timelines and risk assessments.
* Manage events with attention to location, financial and time constraints.
* Work within an event budget and comply with finance systems.
* Coordinate with vendors and stakeholders during event planning and execution.
* Monitor event metrics and comply with project reporting requirements.
* Attend meetings as required.
* Work cooperatively with Resilient Lismore staff and volunteers, and with project stakeholders.
* Assist the project team with other project tasks as required.
* Manage and oversee WHS requirements and risk management processes, instilling a culture of wellbeing and safety at all stages of events execution.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in planning and executing mid to large scale conferences including understanding of audio-visual requirements.
* Volunteer management and team leadership skills.
* Experience in Risk Management and WHS requirements.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* High level oral and written communication skills.
* A calm and reliable approach in busy environments
Highly desirable
* Strong connection the Northern Rivers.
* Background or understanding of the Community Services Sector.
