Psychiatrist - Work From Anywhere in Australia

Add expected salary to your profile for insights

We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists who want more than a standard clinical role — doctors who are motivated by purpose, clinical quality, and genuinely sustainable work.

Why Doctors Choose to Work With Us

* "Because here, clinical judgement is trusted."
* "Because my time is respected and paid."
* "Because I can do meaningful work without burning out."
* "Because the culture is genuinely supportive — not just on paper."

About Us

Australian Veteran Health Services (AVHS) is a purpose-driven, multi-disciplinary medical organisation founded by veterans, for veterans. With clinics in Springfield QLD, Daw Park SA and Deakin ACT we specialise in supporting current and former Defence personnel as they transition to civilian life.

The Opportunity

We are seeking dedicated and experienced Psychiatrists to support our caring team. You will join an integrated, multidisciplinary service that values collaboration, clinical support, and shared care. Our growing wellbeing group offers an environment where your work will be closely supported with experienced psychologists, wellbeing clinicians, general practitioners, and clinical teams to deliver coordinated, high‐quality patient care.

Assessments can be completed as a fully remote, telehealth-based role offering excellent rates, flexibility, and the support clinicians need to do their best work — without burnout, rushed consultations or administrative burden. Any treatment recommendations will be administered and followed up by the veteran's treating General Practitioner and psychologist to ensure patients receive continuity and well‐coordinated follow-up care!

Where a diagnosis is determined as being clearly linked to ADF service history, veterans may elect to lodge a DVA claim. In such cases, your expertise will be instrumental in completing Diagnostic and Assessment reports.

Competitive Advantages & Professional Support

True Work–Life Balance (Not Just a Promise)

Business hours only — no evenings, weekends or on‐call work

No KPIs, targets or rushed appointments

Flexible scheduling to suit your life and clinical preferences

100% telehealth — work from anywhere in Australia

We believe clinicians do their best work when they have time, autonomy and balance. You are trusted as a specialist — not managed by metrics

Dedicated Clinical Support:

We remove the friction so you can focus on care:

Administrative and clinical support team

Bookings, diary management and patient coordination handled for you

All agreed time is paid, including late cancellations and no‐shows

You'll be part of a growing, values‐led organisation built around collaboration:

A full multi‐disciplinary team including medical, nursing and allied health professionals

A workplace culture that is warm, respectful and clinician‐focused

Leadership that listens, values feedback, and partners with clinicians — not controls them

Ongoing Training & Development: Opportunities for professional growth, and expert‐led discussions on veteran mental health.

A Meaningful Impact: Your work directly supports current and former Australian Defence Force personnel and veterans. Every consultation contributes to improving access to care, dignity, and long‐term outcomes for those who have served our country.

This is meaningful clinical work — with impact you can feel.

Recognition & Appreciation: Your expertise will be highly valued within an organisation that truly understands and prioritises veteran needs.

Mandatory Requirements

Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP)

Full AHPRA registration
