Your Host Employer:
Light Regional Council is a successful, progressive Council featuring a good portion of the internationally renowned Barossa Valley, some iconic historic townships and settlements including Kapunda and Greenock, as well as rapidly expanding developments, particularly the Roseworthy Township. They are a growth region with a strong focus on economic development balanced with environmental sustainability to enhance the community they serve.
The Role:
Location: Freeling SA
Duration: 36-month Traineeship
As a Horticulture Trainee, you will assist in creating and maintaining parks and gardens within the local council area.
Under the guidance of experienced mentors, your responsibilities will include:
* Garden and grounds maintenance
* Mulch, prune, pot, and water plants
* Use garden tools and machinery
* Brush cutting and mowing
* Pest and weed control
* Install irrigation pipes and watering systems

About You:
To be successful in this Traineeship, you will need to:
* Enjoy working outdoors and with garden tools
* Strong work ethic; reliable and punctual
* Ability to prioritise time and tasks when working under pressure
* Works effectively within a team and unsupervised
* Great communication skills
* Have a can-do attitude and willing to learn

Eligibility Criteria:
* Current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle
* Physically fit and healthy due to manual labour work
* Satisfactorily pass a pre-employment assessment including a drug and alcohol test
* Previous experience in gardening or similar trades (advantageous)
