Position Classification: Counsellor Level 1 / 2, Psychologist, Social Worker Level 1 / 2

Remuneration: Dependent on Qualifications

Hours Per Week: 32 (Job Share will be considered for part-time hours)

Location: Cumberland Hospital, North Parramatta

GambleAware Multicultural Service is funded to provide services across NSW however this role is based at Cumberland Hospital in North Parramatta, the largest mental health facility in NSW and the oldest in Australia.

What You'll Be Doing

The GambleAware Multicultural Service seeks a skilled Financial Counsellor to support culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in NSW affected by gambling-related harm. Responsibilities will include:

Providing financial counselling, advocacy, and budgeting support to CALD clients.Delivering culturally responsive counselling via face-to-face, phone, and online services.Developing and implement financial management education for CALD communities.Collaborating with service providers and advocate with financial institutions.Working independently, requiring FCAN registration and experience in financial counselling.

Essential Criteria

Qualification: Degree qualification in Counselling, Psychology or Social work in addition to a diploma of Financial Counselling.

Registration: Current membership with FCAN

Selection Criteria

Accreditation in financial counselling and registration with the responsible regulatory body (FCAN).Demonstrated experience and theoretical knowledge of working as a financial counsellor, in a variety of settings, for example individuals, couples, families and groups impacted by addiction.Knowledge and application of legislation and regulations relating to gambling and debt recovery and a wide range of networks and services to assist individuals and families with health and welfare concerns.Demonstrated experience in working with clients in another language and/or with an interpreter and sensitivity to the needs of people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
