Venue Manager - Lead a Coastal Brewery Destination

We're the home of Great Ocean Road Brewing — a vibrant, architecturally designed venue that seats up to 380 guests, combining stunning coastal style with relaxed community spirit.
Lead service across bar and floor and set the tone for your team, providing exceptional customer experience.
The Taphouse is known for its laid‑back coastal vibe, great craft beers, delicious food, and genuine hospitality. From locals' nights and live music to private functions and community events — we're the place where everyone feels welcome.
The Role
We're on the hunt for a Front of House Manager to lead our incredible Taphouse team.
You'll be hands‑on in the venue, guiding our crew through busy weekends, special events, and everyday service — ensuring every guest leaves with a smile (and probably a story to tell).
You'll be the face of the floor — keeping service smooth, energy high, and team morale strong. You'll also work closely with the leadership team to plan and deliver events and functions, bringing memorable experiences to life for our guests and community.
Alongside your people and service focus, you'll take ownership of key operational areas — helping to drive performance, efficiency, and innovation across the venue.
The successful candidate will be expected to commence within 1 month of job offer acceptance.
What You'll Bring
* Experience leading restaurant and bar teams in a fast‑paced environment
* Strong understanding of P&Ls and the ability to deep‑dive into venue performance
* Proven ability to implement innovative, revenue‑driving ideas across food, beverage, and entertainment
* Experience writing efficient rosters, managing labour costs, and investigating stock variances
* Familiarity with venue systems and reporting on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis
* A positive, hands‑on leadership style that inspires confidence and teamwork
* A genuine love for hospitality, people, and creating memorable moments
* Knowledge of Impos, SevenRooms, Deputy, and Me&U is a big plus
* Australian work rights are required for this position

* Approachable, welcoming, and positive — someone guests and staff alike gravitate toward
* Hands‑on and motivated, leading by example and staying calm in the busiest moments
* Experienced in both elevated dining and fast‑paced bar service, with beer, cocktail, and wine knowledge to back it up
* Confident in managing a team, training staff, and delivering consistently great service
* Ambitious and eager to learn, with strong written and verbal communication skills
* Holds a current RSA
* Ready to jump in and help the team succeed every day
