The RACQ Education Team has a learning and development focus that enables us to give back to the Queensland community by teaching road safety to over 65,000 young people each year. For this role you may be based either in Townsville or Mackay.
Our team, currently based in FNQ, CQ, Wide Bay and SEQ, is expanding its reach in NQ. As an Education Officer you will deliver high school and primary school road safety education programs, Driver IQ, Docudrama, Driver Distraction and Streets Ahead throughout Cairns, Townsville or Mackay and surrounding regions. Day‐to‐day you will travel to schools in a supplied car, teach engaging and interactive programs, and liaise with schools to coordinate delivery. When not in schools you have the flexibility to work from home.
You will work 7.5 hours per day with variations in start/finish time as required to accommodate travel and teaching. You may also work away from your home base for up to a week at a time in other parts of Queensland.
This is a full‐time, permanent position. Start date is negotiable.
Responsibilities
Deliver road safety education programs to schools across the selected regions.
Travel to schools, manage classroom activities, and coordinate with school staff.
Plan and adapt teaching materials to suit different age groups and contexts.
Maintain professional growth and attend training as needed.
Qualifications
* Demonstrated experience teaching in a high school or primary school classroom.
* Excellent classroom management skills that build rapport and engage students.
* Compassion and desire to make a positive difference for adolescents and children in the road safety space.
* Self‐reflective and committed to using feedback to improve teaching practices.
* Capacity to differentiate teaching for students of different ages and contexts.
* Flexibility and discernment to manage and respond to change effectively.
* Growth mindset and accountability for actions and decisions.
* Ability to work well within a team environment, connecting and engaging in person and virtually.
* Ability to work independently, managing time and producing high‐quality work without supervision.
* Good understanding of Microsoft programs and A/V related technology.
* Excellent interpersonal, phone and written communication skills.
* Tertiary qualification in Education.
* Queensland College of Teacher Registration or Suitability to Work with Children Card (Blue Card).
