About the role The newly created General Manager Commercial Performance position; is a highly strategic and influential leadership role with end to end accountability for asset and revenue growth, client acquisition and retention, and the delivery of deposit growth through targeted marketing execution. The role is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for Country Banking Australia’s performance, with end to end oversight of Data, Analytics & Market intelligence reporting, including product, pricing, and customer performance insights. It drives strategic alignment across Marketing, Brand, Product (development), and Sustainable Finance to support Country Banking’s lending clients. In addition, the role is accountable for managing sustainable returns on capital and contributing to the strategic direction and performance of Country Banking’s deposit portfolio. The General Manager will champion marketing and sales innovation within Country Banking to strengthen Rabobank’s position as the preferred financial partner to the Australian agriculture sector. This role reports to an Executive Accountable Person. Certain responsibilities that are in the Accountability Statement for the Executive Accountable Person have been cascaded to this role to support the Executive AP’s discharge of their accountabilities. Note that the accountability remains with the AP. Collectively the role will encompass Marketing, Brand, Product (development) Sustainable Finance & Business Development & Commercial Performance initiatives for which the General Manager will be responsible and will lead a team and oversee internal working groups to implement. The role brings together aspects of strategy, marketing, business and development, performance coaching and management, operational excellence, business analysis and project execution. This role is also responsible for the delivery of appropriate tools to the frontline to support business development and client engagement including but not limited to business plans, the loan pricing tool. The General Manager is expected to think strategically whilst delivering tactically. What we are looking for: University graduate in finance, accounting, business, economics, law, or other banking related discipline Post graduate university studies in finance, accounting, business, economics, law, or other banking related discipline (desirable) Extensive working experience within the banking industry, preferably across multiple revenue line functions Strong and proven experience in roles similar to Director / General Manager in senior management capacity, working in a global matrix business, leading multiple teams in a complex environment. Knowledge of a wide range of financial products, including loans, deposits, and derivatives, plus methods of imparting this knowledge by way of effective technology programs. High level knowledge of the bank’s global sustainability strategy, and how this can be localised here on the ground in Australia. Advanced analytical skills including balance sheet, profit and loss statement analysis, and cash flow interpretation Demonstrated sales and marketing experience. Strong commercial, business, and strategic acumen Sound judgement and planning, able to assess risks and constraints. Proven people management and leadership skills, including organisational awareness.
