Our esteemed client, Bantu Recruitment Agency, is currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join their team on a full-time basis. The business is an African-Australian-owned recruitment agency, boasting affiliation with Indigenous labour hire. As a globally oriented agency, their primary objective is to source and deploy outstanding candidates across various sectors, including Mining, Healthcare, Hospitality, and Education.
The Mechanical Fitter will be responsible for the installation and assembly of fabricated metal components into final products, setting up machining tools and production equipment, and operating machinery to accurately shape metal stock and castings.
The annual salary for this position is $80,000 to $150,000.
Responsibilities
Work in accordance with quality work plans and procedures on scheduled and unplanned maintenance; carry out inspections.
Troubleshoot and test corrective repairs on various fixed and processing plant and mining equipment, including jaw and cone crushers, vibe feeders, rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, blowers, valves, piping, mechanical seals, and hydraulic systems; ensuring all documentation is completed and backlogs raised for identified faults.
Should also be experienced and conversant with the technical parameters governing pump maintenance regarding mechanical seal installation, bearing clearances, gaskets, rotors, couplings, alignment, and protection devices; component removing, rebuilding and installing chutes, liners, screens, pulleys, idlers, roller frames, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
Shape metal stock and castings to precise tolerances using a variety of machining tools, including presses, cutters, grinders, planers, borers, and drills.
Cut, thread, bend and fit hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines for optimal system functionality.
Weld and repair structural components, frames, and chassis on heavy vehicles and machinery.
Develop and implement mechanisms to regulate and optimise the performance of vehicle machinery used in operations.
Identify and troubleshoot malfunctions, perform routine maintenance, and repair mechanical components and equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
Assembling machines and equipment on-site if required.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and work performed, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and facilitate future maintenance planning.
Qualifications
Should be able to work independently.
Must have completed four (4) years of apprenticeship training and three (3) years post-apprenticeship.
Should hold a relevant Australian Trade Certificate.
