Australian Portable Camps (APC) is a leading Australian provider of modular building solutions and remote camp infrastructure for the mining, resources, construction and infrastructure sectors. From our manufacturing facility in Monarto, South Australia, we design, build and deliver high-quality modular accommodation and camp facilities to projects across Australia.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and proactive Purchasing Manager to lead and manage our procurement and supply chain operations.
This is a full-time position based at our Monarto facility, responsible for ensuring the efficient sourcing, purchasing and delivery of materials, equipment and services required to support our manufacturing operations, remote construction projects and camp operations.
About the Role
Reporting to senior management, the Purchasing Manager will oversee all purchasing activities across the business, ensuring materials and services are procured in a timely, cost-effective and compliant manner.
You will work closely with manufacturing, logistics, project and finance teams to ensure APC maintains strong supplier relationships and a reliable supply chain to support our projects across Australia.
Key Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Managing the end-to-end purchasing and procurement process
* Sourcing materials, equipment and services for manufacturing and construction projects
* Negotiating pricing, contracts and supply agreements with suppliers
* Maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors
* Monitoring stock levels and coordinating purchasing requirements with production teams
* Ensuring materials are ordered and delivered in line with project timelines
* Reviewing supplier performance and identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies
* Managing purchase orders, invoices and procurement documentation
* Working closely with the finance team to ensure purchasing aligns with budgets and cost controls
* Ensuring compliance with company policies and procurement procedures
* Identifying and implementing improvements to procurement systems and processes
About You
To be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
* Previous experience in purchasing, procurement or supply chain management
* Experience within construction, manufacturing, mining, logistics or industrial environments highly regarded
* Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
* Excellent organisational and planning abilities
* High attention to detail and strong commercial awareness
* Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
* Experience using ERP systems such as JDE or similar procurement systems highly desirable
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
