Salary: HES Grade B - Corporate $236,590 - $253,831 p.a. (inclusive of base salary and 11.5% superannuation)

THEORGANISATION
South Metropolitan Health Service(SMHS) located in Perth, Western Australia is a network of healthservices including Fiona Stanley, Fremantle, Rockingham General,Peel Health Campus, Murray District as well as mental health andcommunity-based services. THEOPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Chief Executive,the Executive Director Safety and Quality and Consumer Engagementcontributes to decision making on whole of health issues as part ofthe SMHS Area Executive Group, and leads the strategic directionand planning for safety, quality and consumer engagement for thehealth service.
The role is responsible andaccountable for analysis and provision of high-level expert adviceon key safety, quality, consumer engagement and patient experiencewithin the health service, and at a State and National level.The role leads the SMHS Clinical Governance, Safety andQuality Improvement, Consumer Engagement and Patient ExperiencePrograms.
The successful candidate will havea unique and career defining opportunity to lead the partnership ofSMHS with the internationally renowned Virginia Mason Institute(VMI) in the development and implementation of a SMHS QualityManagement Program.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will needto demonstrate:
* Experience in a complex healthcare environment having ledand managed services associated with the promotion, maintenanceand improvement of safety and quality, consumer engagement andpatient experience.
* A track record of driving progressive change at theorganisational level in the delivery of safety and qualityprograms and the ability to influence others to continuallyimprove the delivery of health care.
* The ability to form relationships and have credibility withinternal and external stakeholders as the SMHS leader forengagement with the System Manager and other Health ServiceProviders in Safety, Quality and Consumer Engagement to supportsystem-wide improvement.
* Experience in providing high-level expert advice andsupport to the Chief Executive and other Area executivesthrough analysis and assessment of trends and emergingissues.
* The ability to establish, lead and direct the clinicalgovernance program for the Area within a clinical governanceframework.
* An understanding and commitment to consumer engagement andthe ability to lead and direct the management and coordinationof the Area's consumer engagement participationprograms.
* The holding of a relevant tertiary qualification.
