Senior Category Manager
to take ownership of the category and help build it properly — from product inception through to scalable operation.
This is a hands-on, behind-the-scenes role for someone who enjoys
structure, systems, and long-term thinking
, and who has been involved in
launching and managing product families
, not just selling them.
The Role
You will own the
solar product category end-to-end
, with responsibility for how products are defined, launched, governed, documented, and supported internally.
Customer interaction is limited to
planned, technical discussions
. Your impact will be felt through
clarity, repeatability, and operational strength
.
This role is
not sales-focused
.
What You'll Be Responsible For:
1) Category & Product Ownership
* Own the solar product family from
inception to lifecycle management
* Define range architecture, selection logic, and product positioning
* Lead product launches, optimisation, and phase-out decisions
2) Process, Systems & Documentation
* Build and maintain
robust SOPs, playbooks, technical documentation, and compliance files
* Create repeatable workflows for ordering, manufacturing, and product management
* Eliminate ambiguity across sales, operations, supply chain, and purchasing
3) Forecasting & Commercial Discipline
* Own demand forecasting, pricing logic, margin models, and inventory planning
* Validate assumptions with sales, finance, and supply chain stakeholders
* Improve stock accuracy and cost-to-market decision-making
4) Supplier & Technical Management
* Manage supplier relationships, including
overseas manufacturers
* Ensure products meet
Australian standards and regulatory requirements
* Maintain accuracy of technical data, certifications, and specifications
5) Internal Enablement
* Enable sales and operations through
technical clarity and correct product selection
* Provide structured updates via dashboards, reports, and stakeholder reviews
What We're Looking For:
* 5+ years' experience
in category management, product management, procurement, or commercial operations
* Proven experience
launching products and building product families
* Strong technical understanding of
solar, electrical, battery, or energy products
* Highly
process-driven
, with pride in documentation and system integrity
* Comfortable influencing stakeholders without relying on authority
* Experience working with
ERP / CRM / product data systems
* Full working rights in Australia
Highly regarded
* Experience with overseas suppliers or contract manufacturers
* Exposure to solar, lighting, or adjacent technical industries
* Experience building forecasting models, range frameworks, or governance structures
