**The Role**
We're seeking a highly skilled Informix DBA to manage, maintain, and optimise IBM Informix database environments supporting a secure, high-availability regulatory platform.
This Sydney-based role is part of a broader legacy uplift program and involves working closely with development teams to ensure database performance, resilience, and compliance.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch Informix database server software.
- Monitor and optimise database performance (memory, CPU, I/O, storage).
- Implement and maintain robust backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Troubleshoot database issues and provide root cause analysis and resolution.
- Design and maintain database objects (tables, views, indexes, stored procedures).
- Manage user access, roles, and permissions to ensure data security.
- Automate database maintenance tasks using shell scripts or other tools.
- Perform capacity planning and ensure high availability and disaster recovery readiness.
- Ensure compliance with IT standards, policies, and procedures.
**What You'll Need**
- Hands-on experience as an Informix DBA in production environments.
- Proficiency with Informix tools (dbaccess, onstat, oncheck, ontape, onbar).
- Experience with Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), ideally version 12.x or above.
- Strong UNIX/Linux skills, including shell scripting.
- Knowledge of SQL tuning, indexing strategies, and replication (HDR/ER).
- Familiarity with Informix Storage Manager (ISM) and monitoring tools.
- Australian Citizenship with Baseline security clearance.
