Process samples from a variety of specimen types that spans both bacteriological and viral testing and participate in all rostered shifts which will include days, afternoon, overnights, weekends and public holidays.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)
Demonstrated ability to accurately receive, label, and process clinical specimens for microbiological culture in accordance with laboratory protocols.
Practical skills in performing basic microbiological tasks such as Gram staining, reagent preparation, and equipment maintenance, following safety and quality requirements.
Understanding of quality assurance processes, including participation in daily quality control checks, and adherence to biosafety and infection control procedures in a PC2 laboratory environment.
Effective communication skills to liaise with scientists and other laboratory staff, ensuring prompt processing of priority specimens and efficient coordination within the laboratory team.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks with accuracy and consistency, maintain detailed records, and meet turnaround times in a high throughput diagnostic laboratory setting.
