The Legal and Audit Division supports the Department's objectives by providing legal advice, litigation, and dispute resolution services. We seek candidates with strong technical legal skills, great communication skills, and a positive attitude.

About Legislation & Instruments
\
Our Legislation and Instruments Section works collegiately to develop primary and subordinate legislation. This includes working closely with policy areas, drafting legislation, facilitating constitutional risk assessments, and assisting in the development of delegation and statutory appointment instruments.

Duties
\
\
1. Deliver high-quality legal services that meet client expectations.
\
2. Prepare, draft, and review moderately complex legislative instruments and other legal documents.
\
3. Build and maintain strong client relationships while promoting the Legal & Audit Division as the trusted advisor.
\
4. Continuously develop professional legal expertise through participation in development, training, and study opportunities.
\
5. Support leadership of the Team and the Branch.
\
6. Supervise and support junior staff.
\

Eligibility
\
\
7. Must be an Australian citizen.
\
8. Must obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
\
\
Mandatory Requirements
\
\
9. Must have at least a Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognised tertiary education provider.
\
10. Must be admitted as a legal practitioner of the High Court or the Supreme Court of a State or Territory of Australia.
