Are you passionate about aviation and eager to share your knowledge with the next generation of Royal Australian Navy and Australian Army pilots? Boeing Defence Australia are seeking experienced Helicopter Qualified Flying Instructors (QFI's) to join the team.These Instructor positions will support the Helicopter Aircrew Training System (HATS), operating the EC135 T2+. The QFI is primarily responsible for the conduct of ab-initio pilot helicopter flying instruction.If you are looking to join an exciting team that provides support to the EC-135 Helicopter fleet to achieve the mission of training pilots, aircrew and aviation warfare officers to the Australian Defence Force, we have multiple full time employment opportunities available.These roles are based in Nowra.As a Qualified Flight Instructor within BDA, you will:Conduct ab-initio flight instruction on the EC-135 T2+ aircraftConduct ground instruction, briefings and lecturesOperate Training Aircraft and Training Equipment (live and synthetic devices)Update trainee recordsBrief the Pilot Training Officer on trainee progressMentor traineesReview trainee progress in ground Training events and assessmentsUpdate Aircraft recordsMaintain aircrew qualifications and currency requirements in accordance with all relevant Standing Instructions and as amended by Special Flying InstructionsConduct Secondary Missions in support of 723 SQN tasking where requestedProvide flying supervision to traineesReview and recommend changes to Training packages and coursewareProvide support to JHS Winching and Load lifting Training evolutionsPerform other duties, as required by the Pilot Training OfficerProvide written and verbal pre-briefs and debriefs to studentsParticipate in external evaluations (including safety related investigations)Assist the HATS Training Manager as required for BDA related activitiesComply with the WHS-related JHS OIP to ensure a safe workplaceBe aware of, and demonstrate a commitment to, the principles of equal opportunity in the workplaceTo be considered for the role you will have:Current CASA Class 1 Medical and ability to maintain the requirements of this medical certificateCASA Commercial Pilot Licence (Helicopter) - CPL(H) (minimum)CASA Command Instrument Rating (Helicopter), or military equivalentCASA Night Visual Flight Rules Rating, or military equivalentCASA Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) rating, or military equivalentCASA Sling Load and Winching Operations Endorsement, or military equivalentCASA Flying Instructor (Helicopter) Grade 2 rating, or military equivalentTAE40122 or current TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or ability to obtainCategory C rotary wing Qualified Flying Instructor or greaterMilitary flight instruction experienceA history of helicopter NVD formation experience250hours of NVD flight operationsHave held a previous day and night Deck Landing Qualification (DLQ)Must have clear and effective English written and verbal communication skills in a stressful flying environmentMust have current Competency Standard HLTAID003 - Provide first aidDemonstrate the ability to work in a teamDemonstrate the ability to successfully interact with co-workers, maintaining productive working relationships to meet team, business unit and organisational goalsBe able to demonstrate a working knowledge of Workplace/Occupational Health and Safety proceduresIntermediate to advanced level of MS Office skillsAb-initio flying experienceEC135 flying experienceCategory B rotary wing Qualified Flying Instructor or greaterInstructional experience in synthetic devicesExperience in a safety management roleExperience working in a contractor environment (directly with customer)Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements.Physical RequirementsBoeing Defence Australia specific site positions will have physical requirements which are applicable. Physical requirements are outlined by the recruitment manager in consultation with the Environment Health & Safety Department.
