Volunteer Introduction
We are looking for a volunteer (or volunteers) to help keep our lawns looking their best and to maintain and improve our gardens. Whether you prefer mowing or gardening, it’s entirely up to you. You might even like to volunteer with a friend.
About The Site
With two resident kangaroos, numerous birds, and a number of blue‑tongued lizards, we do not use chemical herbicides such as Roundup. Some knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, ecological weed control is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Mow and maintain lawns during open hours.
- Assist with the future re‑opening of the old Factory Canteen, creating a lovely garden and lawn area for extra seating.
- Work outdoors during museum open times, ensuring the garden is welcoming for visitors and picnic enthusiasts.
- Apply ecological weed control techniques where needed.
Equipment
- Ride‑on lawn mower, hand mowers, a whipper snipper, a petrol mulcher, and hand tools.
- Protective equipment is provided.
Schedule and Commitment
The museum is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 4pm, and Saturdays from 10am to 2pm. We require a minimum of 5 hours per week during these open hours. Volunteers may choose times that suit them within these windows.
Commitment: Regular – less than 6 months.
Advantages
Our meal room is equipped with a microwave oven, fridge, air fryer oven, toaster, and coffee pod machine. Coffee, tea and biscuits are always available.
