Positions Available:
x2 Family Support Worker, x1 Finding Kin Officer & x1 Extended Post-Care Support Worker
This role is full time 38hrs per week.
Salary is in line with the Social, Community, Home Care & Disability Services Industry Award 2010- Social and Community Services Employee.

Beenleigh Housing and Development Company Ltd (BHDC) is the oldest Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Organisation of its type in Eagleby, Beenleigh Logan QLD. BHDC strives to support, enhance, and transform the lives of its members in culturally supportive, community connected and regenerative ways. BHDC was formally established in 1994 as a not-for-profit, registered charity holding Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) registration with the Australian Taxation Office.
Main Tasks
Core objectives include:
* Provide Cultural support through Jinndi practice – connecting programs, kin mapping, family, Community and Country connections
* Case management (with a strong Social and Emotional Wellbeing focus) for young people in Extended Post Care, general and/or kinship carers, individuals and families.
* Connecting family members for children and young people aged under 18 years who are subject to the Chief Executive's custody or guardianship under the Child Protection Act 1999 that would benefit from enhanced family connections.
* Ensuring that all case files, and other records, strictly comply with policies, regulations, and procedures.

Other Duties
Client Support:
* Build strong and trusting relationships with young people aged 18 and above, general and kinship carers, individuals and families, jarjums (children) and other stakeholders within the local community
* Assess individual needs and develop personalized support plans in collaboration with clients, this can include but is not limited to housing, employment, education, health and financial supports
Cultural Competency:
* Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and understanding when working with clients from diverse backgrounds.
* Incorporate cultural considerations into support plans and service delivery.
* Foster an environment of respect for clients' cultural heritage and identities.
Team Collaboration:
* Work closely with the Team Leader to ensure coordinated and effective support.
* Collaborate with other support workers to share insights, best practices, and resources.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of program strategies.
Documentation and Reporting:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records, progress notes, and case files.
* Generate reports on client outcomes and program impact as required.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
Continuous Learning:
* Stay informed about community resources, services, and opportunities available to clients.
* Engage in ongoing professional development to enhance skills and knowledge.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in social work, child protection or a related field is preferred.
* Previous experience working with young people, preferably in a support or mentoring capacity.
* Cultural competence and the ability to work with diverse communities.
* Strong communication, active listening, and problem-solving skills.
* Empathetic, patient, and compassionate approach to client support.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in record keeping and documentation.

Selection Criteria
* Experience and/or the ability to demonstrate community development skills in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, particularly a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
* High level of communications skills, including the ability to hold difficult and challenging conversations with clients, when required.
* Demonstrated writing skills and the ability to produce comprehensive, detailed, and accurate case notes, reports and assessments using a computer including spreadsheets, email, internet, digital media etc.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
