About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager – Soils & Aggregates to lead our Yatala laboratory operations and support field activities. This is a senior, hands-on role responsible for laboratory management, staff supervision, quality assurance, and client liaison.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day operations of the Soils & Aggregates laboratory
* Supervise, mentor, and support laboratory technicians and field staff
* Ensure compliance with NATA accreditation, Australian Standards, and TMR methods
* Oversee laboratory and field testing, including
* Compaction control testing (cut/fill, trench backfill, foundations, pavement layers)
* Bearing capacity, Nuke testing for residential and commercial developments
* Footings, crane pads, outriggers, and capping layers
* Soil and aggregate laboratory testing
* Review, validate, and approve test results and reports
* Coordinate workloads and priorities to meet project deadlines
* Support Level 1 site supervision, proof rolls, and inspections
* Liaise with clients, engineers, and internal stakeholders
* Maintain laboratory equipment, procedures, and quality systems
* Promote a strong safety and quality culture
**About You
Essential:**
Proven experience in soils, subdivisions, and aggregates testing
Relevant Level 1 certifications
Site supervision experience
Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and NATA requirements
Experience managing staff and laboratory operations
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Desirable (but not essential):
Previous laboratory management or senior supervisory experience
