Overview
As part of our Naval Combat Systems group, the Platform Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, deployment, test and documentation of 9LV Platform components, supporting Naval Combat Systems projects using the 9LV CMS computing platform in Australia and worldwide, in collaboration with the global 9LV Platform team. The successful candidate will:
Participate in close collaboration with the local Naval Combat Systems project and integration teams as required
Design and implementation of new 9LV Platform capabilities
Develop and evolve the existing capabilities
Consider cyber security impacts and implications in all aspects of development
Assist in addressing technology obsolesce
Investigate and address reported issues
Support customer projects with integration
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office, 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About You
Your education, skills and experience will include:
Tertiary qualifications in software engineering, computer science, or related technical discipline.
Experience with the products, development environment and the open-source tools used to develop and support the software.
Significant experience in software integration, continuous integration/delivery, test automation and DevOps tools and workflows covering technologies such as Kubernetes, and Jenkins.
Experience in configuring / integrating tools to work together in a Linux system to achieve required outcomes; for example, an understanding of the services, tools, and configuration required to boot diskless hosts; Significant experience with containerization and virtualization technologies such as Docker.
Significant experience with Linux
Experience in programming languages such as Python, Bash, Go.
Exposure to at least one software development lifecycle model in a formal engineering environment, preferably defence
As a defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance preferably to NV1 level or have the ability to gain one. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
