"An excellent once in a lifetime opportunity" exists for an exceptional Welder/Goldsmith to join our Darwin Jewellery Workshop team.
The role offers a unique opportunity to experience the vibrant tropical climate of Darwin and work with the best quality of pearls. You will be surrounded by a supportive and friendly team of experienced jewellers. Our workshop is undergoing a state-of-the-art transformation, providing an aesthetically pleasing work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Select, clean, and prepare metal stock for joining.
* Cut marked-out metal sections and shapes and then bend them using hand and machine tools.
* Align metal parts and join them using various welding techniques, bolting, or riveting.
* Examine welds to ensure they meet specifications for width, penetration, and precision.
* Clean and smooth welds by filing, chiseling, and grinding, and finish the final products.
* Apply appropriate welding techniques to join metal sections.
* Apply flame soldering, sanding, filling, cutting techniques for preparation for setting.
* Knowledge and use of diamond cutting.
* Connect metal pieces through methods such as soldering, riveting, or welding (fire or arc).
* Laser welding with microscope, knowledge of creating and working with microscope settings.
* Interprets drawings and specifications to determine welding requirements.
Qualifications:
* Hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF Certificate III or higher.
Experience & Skills:
* At least two year's relevant full-time work experience
* The ability to work on a very small scale with high precision is crucial.
* A meticulous eye for detail is essential for creating and repairing intricate pieces.
* Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential.
