What the role is
We are looking for an Experienced Soil Technician / Laboratory Manager who can lead and mentor while remaining hands‑on in dynamic small team environment.
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you will be responsible for the following:
* Supervise and mentor lab staff, ensuring training and professional growth;
* Manage day‑to‑day lab operations and compliance with ISO/IEC 17025;
* Liaise with clients and internal teams on testing schedules and results;
* Conduct hands‑on laboratory and field testing, data analysis and reporting;
* Preparation of test reports and generating invoices;
* Review NATA‑endorsed reports before client release;Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration;
* Drive safety and quality standards at all times.

About you
You're a proactive team player with strong communication and problem‑solving skills. To succeed, you'll need:
* Proven experience in laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregate testing to relevant Australian standards;
* Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques, Diploma or Degree‑qualified;
* Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and WHS compliance;
* Ability to prepare and report NATA‑certified reports;
* Strong time management and attention to detail;
* Intermediate MS Office skills;
* Australian Driver's licence (essential);
* Nuclear gauge licence (preferred, or willing to obtain);
* Previous lab management experience (desirable).
