About the role
As a key leader within the City Assets Directorate, you will lead the strategic and sustainable management of Council's public assets and infrastructure. Overseeing the Strategic Asset Management and Engineering Services functions, you will drive long‐term asset planning, infrastructure renewal, and service improvement to support community outcomes and organisational priorities.
Key Accountabilities (not limited to)
* Lead the Strategic Asset Management and Engineering pillars to align with Council's long‐term goals and community needs.
* Provide evidence‐based technical and legislative advice to the Executive team and Council.
* Manage and mentor a high‐performing team focused on accountability and customer service.
* Build strong partnerships with government agencies, Councillors, and the community to influence key decisions.
* Oversee operational budgets, ensure financial sustainability, and effectively allocate resources.
* Monitor performance to identify efficiencies and ensure all services meet community expectations.
* Ensure all operations comply with relevant legislation (e.g., NSW Local Government Act 1993), safety standards, and risk frameworks.
* Implement systems and policies that support the entire lifecycle of Council assets.
About you
To be successful in this job you will have:
* A degree in Engineering (or similar) with significant experience in infrastructure and asset management.
* Deep knowledge of traffic, environment, and urban development engineering.
* Proven ability to lead diverse teams and create a high‐performing culture.
* Skilled at influencing and building strong relationships with stakeholders.
* Experienced in managing large budgets, procurement, and governance.
* Able to drive long‐term goals while managing daily operations.
