About the role Join Service NSW at a pivotal time for cyber security. As a Senior Cyber Security Governance Advisor, you’ll play a key role in strengthening our cyber security posture—shaping policy compliance, uplifting maturity, and influencing outcomes across a large, cloud native environment.
What You’ll Do
Own and evolve the Service NSW Information Security Management System (ISMS)—from documentation and audit planning to executive reporting.
Lead NSW Cyber Security Policy (CSP) assessments and continuous improvement initiatives, driving measurable uplift in maturity scores.
Provide expert, pragmatic advice on cyber security frameworks including NSW CSP, Essential 8, ISO 27001 and the Trusted Digital Identity Framework.
Maintain strong oversight of cloud security posture across AWS and container platforms, ensuring controls remain effective as environments scale.
Strengthen cyber risk management, aligning cyber risk with enterprise risk and introducing quantitative approaches to improve decision making.
Contribute to cross team initiatives and uplift programs across Cyber Security when required.
About you
Strong experience across cyber security governance frameworks (NSW CSP, Essential 8, ISO 27001, TDIF).
Broad technical understanding of ICT and cyber security, with hands on exposure to cloud environments (AWS).
Experience or working knowledge of container platforms (e.g. EKS, ROSA, TAS, Kubernetes highly regarded).
Desirable experience working with DevOps teams, git pipelines, and automated security or governance controls.
A relevant degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security or industry certification (e.g. CISSP, CISM, CISA, GIAC).

Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role starting at $130,705 base plus superannuation.
