Senior Medical Physicist: Training and Development Specialist – TEAP Exchange Program
Fixed Term, Part Time Role (2 Year Contract)

The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (PMCC) has secured funding through the Australasian College of Physical Scientists and Engineers in Medicine (ACPSEM) to implement a program to support the objectives of TEAP training in rural and regional radiotherapy centres through involving a two-way plan of PMCC sending registrars to rural centres for placements and "participating centres" sending registrars to PMCC.
To realise this objective, PMCC has created a role of Senior Medical Physicist: TEAP Exchange Program (0.4 EFT) over two years responsible for co-ordinating the program.

Some of the key accountabilities for this role are:

• Leading and implementing an exchange program for regional medical physics trainees and supervisors

• Coordinating the recruitment of candidates for TEAP exchange

• Liaising with regional centres to prepare formal agreements and suitably schedule the practical placements

• Contributing to PMCC multicentre distributed supervision program

• Act as temporary co-supervisor to regional TEAPs when required

• Supporting department wide (cross campus) CPD and project meetings

• Represent PMCC on relevant education internal and external committees

• Contribute to scientific reports, conferences and workshops of national and international relevance as determined in conjunction with the Director of Physical Sciences and Research Lead Physicist

The ideal applicant will have technical and people leadership experience with a track record of successful clinical training. She/he should also have at least 5 years' experience in radiation oncology medical physics and/or radiation safety. ACPSEM Certification in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or a recognised equivalent qualification is required.

Skills - Essential

Essential Requirements

- Master's degree in medical physics
- At least 3 years' experience in radiation oncology medical physics and/or radiation safety
- ACPSEM Certification and Registration in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or a recognised equivalent qualification
- Significant expertise to allow consulting in at least some techniques such as advanced imaging, commissioning, stereotactic procedures, computer coding, a field of research in line with current or emerging radiotherapy techniques

Skills - Desirable

Desirable Requirements

- Management skills, Leadership experience
- At least 6 years' experience in radiation oncology medical physics
- PhD in medical physics
- Research experience documented in presentations and publications

ACPSEM Certification in Radiation Oncology Medical Physics or A Recognised Equivalent Qualification

Key Accountabilities

- Leading and implementing an exchange program for regional medical physics trainees and supervisors
- Coordinating the recruitment of candidates for TEAP exchange

- Developing a learning contract for medical physics trainees on exchange
- Developing and maintaining medical physics trainee exchange reports
- Evaluating the TEAP Exchange Program at regular six-monthly intervals

2. Increase the training system quality and capacity at PMCC and participating centres

- Identifying and enabling training opportunities at multiple sites for individual registrars and supervisors
- Contributing to PMCC multicentre distributed supervision program
- Contributing to distributed training sessions for education, training and assessment
- Identifying areas of mutual benefit for ACPSEM TEAP Clinical Department accreditation

- Constructing a library of plan checks that would cover the theory and practise of plan checking
- Contributing to a library of structured questions for TEAP assessments
- Act as temporary co-supervisor to regional TEAPs when required
- Supporting department wide (cross campus) CPD and project meetings

4. Professional knowledge, development and training

- Represent PMCC on relevant education internal and external committees
- Maintenance of valid radiation use licence
- Participation in CPD
- Participation in teaching and education of other staff members
- Contribute to scientific reports, conferences and workshops of national and international relevance as determined in conjunction with the Director of Physical Sciences and Research Lead Physicist
