Position Information

Orange Grove Public School is located on Wangal Country in the Inner West suburb of Lilyfield. The school caters for 544 students from Preschool to Year 6 and is recognised for its strong culture of collaboration, inclusiveness and high expectations.

Staff are committed to providing high-quality educational, social, cultural and sporting programs. Evidence-based teaching practice, explicit teaching and the analysis and use of data underpin our approach to improving student learning outcomes.

The school has a strong focus on student engagement and wellbeing, supported by whole-school restorative practices and a strong Positive Behaviour for Learning (PB4L) culture. Students are encouraged to be respectful, responsible and active learners who positively contribute to the school community.

Our recent External Validation affirmed significant strengths in effective classroom practice, collaborative professional learning and the systematic use of assessment data to drive continuous improvement. Orange Grove Public School is a cohesive learning community where staff, students and families work together.


Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary:
1) A collaborative leadership style that supports teachers to engage with and adopt explicit, evidence-based teaching methods and the use of data in literacy and numeracy to improve student learning outcomes to support initiatives in the School's Excellence Plan.

2) A highly visible and approachable leader with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with students, families, staff and the wider community.
3) Demonstrated capacity to lead whole school initiatives and wellbeing programs that focus on restorative practices, the enhancement of student experience, developing a sense of belonging and advancing student outcomes.




General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
