I am currently partnered with a State Government Department who are seeking a Payments Officer to join their team in a temporary contract position.
Your new role
As a Payment Officer, you’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of high-volume provider accounts and client reimbursements. You’ll deliver first-call resolution via inbound and outbound calls, troubleshoot complex account issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This role sits within a dynamic service and operations team focused on delivering efficient and just outcomes for clients.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in high-volume account or payment processing
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on first-call resolution
- Ability to identify and resolve issues using critical thinking and stakeholder engagement
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with financial or claims systems
- Typing speed of at least 8,000 keystrokes per hour with a low error rate (typing test required)
Desirable experience
- Prior exposure to government or insurance-related environments
- Knowledge of claims systems such as AVANTI or CPS
- Experience with LEAN or continuous improvement practices
