Engineering Technical Officer – Development

The opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and qualified Engineering Technical Officer – Development who is passionate about the profession and enjoys the rewards of a good challenge.
Key responsibilities
* Provide technical advice and supervision of verge and crossover development to ensure verges comply with City requirements.
* Provide technical advice for new building construction to ensure verges comply with City requirements.
* Manage assessments of trees and vegetation within road reserves to ensure works do not compromise tree and vegetation health.
* Achieve a balance between tree preservation and public safety in assessments.
* Provide technical advice and supervision of public utility works to ensure construction of public utility services do not compromise operation and function of City assets and reinstatements comply with City requirements.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Diploma of Civil Engineering, Public Works, Horticulture or Landscaping, or equivalent tertiary qualifications or training.
* Minimum 5 – 10 years of experience in a similar position.
* Sound knowledge in arboriculture, risk assessments and vegetation identification.
* Experience in the project management of utility infrastructure construction works.
* Strong project management, negotiation, conflict resolution and problem‑solving skills.
* Competence in assessing designs, specifications and plans for civil and structural accuracy and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, local laws and Council policies.
* An understanding of the planning and engineering processes for the development of verges.

* Commencement salaries at the City are generally based on step 1 of the advertised salary range. Incremental progression through the advertised range, typically occurs at the conclusion of each 12‑month period, in accordance with the Industrial Agreement.
