Position summary
Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, Urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.
Tangentyere Reception & Indigenous Case Management Service (ICMS) is part of the Social Services Division, which aims to improve the quality of life of Central Australian Aboriginal people and the wider community through providing innovative, responsive, and culturally appropriate services.
This role is required to contribute to the provision of quality services by providing administrative support for Tangentyere Council’s main reception.
This role is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient running of the reception area whilst providing administration support to the Human Resource Department as required.
This position also undertakes Tangentyere Card service activities and assists the ICMS program clients and service providers who access Emergency Relief (ER), Proof of Identification (ID), Return to Country, and referral services.
As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.
Responsibilities
•Provide front of office services.
•Provide office support services to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of the reception.
•Undertake Tangentyere Card services, ER, RTC and referral services.
•Ensure database information is accurately maintained for all activities undertaken.
•Process payments and bookings as required.
•Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
•Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
•Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
•Other reasonable duties as required.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
Required
•Previous experience with switchboard operation.
•Experience with Microsoft applications.
•Efficient and high accuracy data entry skills.
•Excellent communication skills.
•Previous experience in developing and maintaining complex filing systems.
•Prioritising a varied and heavy workload.
•An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
•Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.
Desired
•Willing to undertake Cert II Business Administration (or equivalent) training.
•Ability to understand or speak one or more Aboriginal languages.
•Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
