Job Description
The Paediatrics Department at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital is seeking to appoint 2 permanent full-time Staff Specialists to join its team. As a Staff Specialist in General Paediatrics, you will be part of a collaborative team that provides an excellent standard of care for patients and their families.
You will be working in a Level 4 Paediatric Unit with 8 inpatient beds for children and young people up to 18 years of age and a 2-bed special care nursery. The clinical work requires a broad scope of skills from neonatal care ( > 34 weeks' gestation) to inpatient care of children and young people as well as general outpatients, involving complex medical, behavioural and developmental paediatrics.
You will have the opportunity to work to the full scope of your practice as a regional general paediatrician and receive mentoring and support as you establish yourself as a key member of the team.

The position involves admitting, consultative, diagnostic, procedural, outpatient, telehealth and on-call services as determined by HNELHD. You will also be required to provide education and research as determined by HNELHD.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA
* Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Paediatrics) or overseas trained specialist pathways
* Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in General Paediatrics
* Evidence of being a scholar, maintains medical professional development and has the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge
* Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public
* Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings
* Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities
* Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance
* Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health

The position offers a range of benefits, including:
* Up to $10,000 in the first 12 months PLUS up to $10,000 each year thereafter in fortnightly payments under the Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme
